Freezers For Sale
So last night while digging through your over crowded freezer compartment a frozen whole chicken fell out and
landed right on your foot. You're limping a bit but the chicken pushed you into something you've been putting off
for awhile -- you need to buy a freezer for your basement. Having made that initial decision you're now faced with
a host of others.Do I want a new freezer or a used one? What style freezer shall I get? Do I want a defrost freezer
or a frost-free model?
Freezers for Sale: New or Used
Perhaps a friend, relative, or neighbor of yours has a used freezer for sale at a very attractive price. Or
perhaps you've seen used freezers for sale at very good prices on Craigslist. No matter how good the purchase price
seems, make sure you check the energy efficiency of the freezer before you buy. Older models are much less energy
efficienct and what you save in the purchase price could quickly disappear in yearly operating costs. If you're
going to go with a used freezer, stick with the latest model you can find. If you live in a major metropolitan area
check to see if a large appliance dealer maintains a "dent shop" outlet store. Large appliances like Freezers are
easily damaged in the delivery and installation process. These damages are frequently nothing more than dents and
scratches that don't affect the operation of the freezer. If you can find such an outlet store you could get a new
freezer for a great price. If you're willing to wait a little, make frequent visits to major Home Centers that sell
appliances. They also sell slighly damaged major appliances at significant discounts.
Freezers for Sale: Styles
Freezers for sale come in two styles: chest and upright. Chest Freezers -- or "deep" freezers as they were once
called -- suffer from numerous disadvantages. Some models are not lighted so it's difficult to see what's in the
freezer. But even with a light it can be difficult to find what you're looking for in an open, undivided space
where everything is piled on top of each other. A general rule of thumb with chest freezers is that whatever you
are looking for will be on the bottom! Some do-it-yourselfers buy ventilated shelving and cut it to size to divide
the freezer space into sections. And some newer models include baskets and built in storage systems, But before you
rule out a chest freezer, consider their advantages. They're cheaper and more energy efficient than upright models
and they retain cold temperatures better during power failures.
Upright freezers work just like your refrigerator. They are lighted and have seperate shelves so you can better
organize, see, and find, what you have in your freezer.
Freezers for Sale, Defrost of Frost Free
Why would anyone want to deal with defrosting a freezer? For one, these models are more energy efficient. For
another, food lasts longer. For a third reason, the defrosting process forces you to examine what you actually have
in your freezer a few times a year. It takes a lot of energy to keep a freezer frost free and the auto defrost
process leads to freezer burn more quickly. Good luck finding the right Freezer For Sale!
